The child had no way of knowing where she was but she didn’t seem at all bothered. For now, she sat at the docks, humming quietly to herself. She wasn’t sure what song she was humming, but she was humming something she heard near one of the shopping districts. She glanced up at the sky in thought before getting up and stepping away from the dock.
However when she did, she didn’t watch her footing and slipped off the dock and into the water. She did try to grab the ledge of the dock but was too slow. She felt gravity pull her down. She never thought she had the reason to learn to swim. NOW she knew that learning to swim was important. She brought her hands to her mouth while her legs kicked, as if this would help her swim back to shore. Shit. She was drowning.
